We are currently in Beverly Hills for a fundraiser at The Witches House.

It was originally built as a film set in Culver City in the 20’s before moving to its current location. It was featured in the movie Clueless.

This is the first of many posts that I will be doing about our recent trip to Vietnam and Hong Kong. My wife Camilla and I went to Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, and then Hong Kong on a great trip that just finished.

These are photos of the wondrous Halong Bay. The Bay has approximately 2,000 small, mostly uninhabited limestone islands with vegetation. The only way to see it is to take a one night boat cruise on a “Junk”. Our boat was called The Violet and was designed in the famous IndoChina style of the 1930’s.

We had a great time, looking out at the sea, meeting new friends, visiting a secluded private beach, and walking through a cave.

Here are a few of the photos from our Halong Bay excursion. Definitely worth the 4 hour drive from Hanoi!

While doing a tour at the Lake in Central Park, I saw this strange looking site: a Venetian Gondola!

I think that the gondolier took a wrong turn at the Grand Canal…

Maybe he was sick of all the Americans in Venice right now for the Biennale and wanted to escape to New York.

Does anyone know more about this phenomenon?

Getting a liqour license downtown is one of the hardest things to do. In 1877, it was a bit easier; all you had to do was bribe an official and serve hard boiled eggs at your bar. This photo was taken in the back of Fanelli’s, the iconic Soho bar. The license dates back to 1877 and it is the oldest liqour license I have ever seen in person.
